My TOZER team were on time, courteous, put down and taped floor mats, tidied up and swept the floor when finished. They explained what was happening and answered my questions.

Why a split system
The room you live in,
sorted for good
A split system is one indoor wall unit paired with one outdoor unit. It is the quickest, most affordable way to make a single room genuinely comfortable, and a good one will do it quietly for well over a decade.
Most of the split systems we install go into homes that already have a plan: the open-plan living area first, then the main bedroom, then the kids' rooms as the budget allows. Because each unit works independently, you only ever run the room you are in, which is why a well-chosen split is so cheap to live with.
The mistake we fix most often is the wrong size. A unit that is too small runs flat out all afternoon and never gets there. A unit that is too big cools the air fast, switches off before it dries the room, and leaves it clammy. Greg or Shaun size every split in person, looking at the room, the windows, the ceiling height and which way the sun comes in, then quote a unit and an install position that actually suits it.
- Reverse cycle: cooling in summer, warm and dry through winter
- Inverter units that ramp up and down instead of switching on and off
- Installed by our own crews, usually within half a day per unit
- Daikin, Fujitsu, Panasonic and Mitsubishi Electric, held in our own warehouse
What you get
What goes into
a TOZER split install
A split system is a simple job to do badly. Here is what a properly done one includes, and every line is in the written quote.
Sized to the room
Floor area, ceiling height, window glass, insulation and orientation, checked in person. Not a kilowatt figure guessed from a floor plan.
The right position
Indoor unit placed to throw air across the room, not straight at the bed or the couch. Outdoor unit somewhere it is quiet for you and the neighbours.
Tidy pipework
Refrigerant lines and drain run inside a colour-matched cover, sealed where they pass through the wall. No sagging pipes, no exposed foam.
Vacuumed and charged
Lines evacuated properly before the refrigerant is released, then pressures and temperatures checked. The shortcut here is what kills a system early.
Mats down, swept up
Floor mats put down and taped, dust caught at the drill, everything swept and wiped before the crew leaves. Our reviews mention it for a reason.
Commissioned and explained
Run on heating and cooling, checked against our completion checklist, then a two-minute walk-through of the remote, the timer and the filter.
Our approach
Six steps,
every single job
One split system or a whole-home ducted install, the job runs the same way. That is what makes a five-year workmanship warranty easy to put in writing.
Measured in person
Greg or Shaun visits your home or site, checks the rooms, roof space, power and where the outdoor unit can live. No sizing off a floor plan alone.
A fixed written quote
You get the system, the brand, the price and what is included, in writing. If something is not in the quote, you will not be charged for it later.
Booked, stocked, ready
Units and ducting come from our own Beresfield warehouse, so the install date we give you is the date we turn up, not the date the supplier delivers.
Installed by our own crews
Trained in-house, in TOZER uniform, floor mats down and taped. Neat penetrations, sealed and capped, and the site swept before the van leaves.
Commissioned and checked
Every system is run on heating and cooling, pressures and temperatures checked, and signed off against our completion checklist before we hand over the controller.
Backed for five years
A 5-year workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer's warranty, honoured by our own service department. Call the same office that installed it.
Sizing guide
Roughly which size
for which room?
A rough guide only. Ceiling height, west-facing glass, insulation and how many people use the room all move the answer, which is why we confirm it in person before you spend a dollar.
| Room | Typical size | Rough capacity |
|---|---|---|
| Bedroom, study, nursery | Up to about 20 m² | 2.0 to 2.5 kW |
| Larger bedroom or small living room | 20 to 30 m² | 3.5 kW |
| Family room, rumpus, garage gym | 30 to 45 m² | 5 to 6 kW |
| Open-plan living and kitchen | 45 to 60 m² | 7 to 9 kW |
If the room you have in mind is bigger than that, or you are trying to cool three or four rooms, it is usually time to talk about a multi-split or ducted instead. We will tell you honestly which one is better value for your house.

Honest advice
Free, whether you buy from us or not. If the system you asked for is the wrong one for the house, we will tell you and show you why.
Our own people
Installers and service technicians trained in-house and employed by TOZER. The crew that quotes, installs and services your system all sit in the same building.
Stocked, not waiting
Our own warehouse at Beresfield holds the units and ducting, so installs are booked against stock on the shelf, not a supplier's delivery run.
Local, answered by people
A local number for every region, answered in our Beresfield office by Lee and the service desk. You get a person who knows the job, not a queue.
Preferred warranty agents for
Not just the brands we sell: the brands that trust us to honour their warranties. We also install Mitsubishi Electric. Compare the brands.
Split system questions
Before you buy
a wall unit
Straight answers to the things people ask before they book a split. More on the FAQ page, or call the showroom.
Ask us directlyHow long does a split system take to install?
A straightforward back-to-back install, where the outdoor unit sits on the other side of the same wall, takes a few hours. Longer pipe runs, a unit on brackets, or an outdoor unit on the far side of the house can take most of a day. The quote tells you which one you are getting before we book it.
Where should the outdoor unit go?
Somewhere with airflow, out of the worst of the afternoon sun if possible, and where the noise will not bother you or the neighbours. We also think about drainage and how easy it will be to service in five years. Greg or Shaun walk the outside of the house with you at the measure and agree the spot before it goes on the quote.
Do I need a bigger unit than the chart says?
Sometimes. A room with a lot of west-facing glass, a raked ceiling, a tin roof with no insulation, or one that opens onto a hallway will need more than its floor area suggests. That is the point of the site visit: we would rather size it right once than have you calling us in January.
Can you put a split in a unit or apartment?
Usually, yes. The main questions are where the outdoor unit can legally go and what the strata rules say about the outside of the building. Bring the strata by-laws to the measure if you have them, and we will tell you straight away whether it is workable.
How often does a split system need a service?
Clean the filter yourself every month or so in summer, and book a professional service every twelve months or so, depending on how hard the unit works and how much dust is around. Our service department does it, and regular servicing keeps the manufacturer's warranty conditions intact.
Can you replace my old split system with a new one?
Yes, and it is often a same-day job. We remove and dispose of the old unit, check whether the existing pipework and drain can be reused or need replacing, fit the new unit and commission it. Reusing tired pipework to save a few dollars is a false economy, so we will tell you what we find.
What warranty do I get on a split system?
The manufacturer's warranty on the unit, five years parts and labour on the residential ranges we install, plus TOZER's 5-year workmanship warranty on the installation itself. As warranty agents for Daikin, Fujitsu and Panasonic, we handle any claim through our own service desk.
