How it works

Diagnosed properly,
fixed once

Breakdowns are handled by our own service department, the same people who service and warranty the systems we install. No subcontractors, no call centre, and no guessing at a fault over the phone.

When you call, Lee on the service desk will ask a few questions: the brand, the type of system, what it is doing and whether it is showing a code. That is enough to book the right technician for the fault and give you a realistic idea of what is involved before anyone drives out.

On site, the technician diagnoses the fault, tells you what it is and what it will cost to fix before doing the work. Many faults, from a blocked drain to a failed capacitor or a sensor, are fixed on the spot. Where a part has to be ordered, we tell you the lead time honestly, and if the system is a brand we are warranty agent for and still inside its warranty, we lodge the claim for you.

  • All ducted, split and multi-split systems, most major brands
  • Diagnosis and a clear price before any repair work starts
  • Repaired by our own technicians, not a subcontractor
  • Warranty claims lodged and handled for Daikin, Fujitsu and Panasonic

Common faults

What is it
doing?

The six calls we get most. Some have a quick check you can do first, and we would rather save you a call-out than charge for one.

Running but not cooling

Often a clogged filter or dirty coil, sometimes low refrigerant from a slow leak, occasionally a failed compressor. Check the filter first, then call if it is clean.

Water dripping inside

Almost always a blocked condensate drain, sometimes a drain that was never run with enough fall. Switch it off to protect the wall and ceiling, then call.

Error code on the display

Every brand uses its own codes. Take a photo of it, switch the system off at the isolator for a few minutes, switch it back on, and tell us the code when you call.

Tripping the power

A system that trips the safety switch or breaker needs a technician, not a reset button. Leave it off and call. It is usually a failing component drawing too much current.

Noisy or rattling

Worn fan bearings, a loose panel, a fan blade out of balance or debris in the outdoor unit. Worth fixing early, because a noise is usually a part on its way out.

Smells musty when it starts

Mould on the indoor coil or in the drain tray. A deep clean and sanitise fixes it and is a lot cheaper than living with it. Book it through our servicing page.

Repair or replace?

When we say
stop spending

Most systems are worth repairing. Some are not, and we would rather say so than take your money for a fix that buys one more summer.

The honest test is the age of the system, the cost of the repair against the cost of a new unit, and whether parts are still made for it. A ten-year-old split with a failed compressor is usually a replacement. A five-year-old ducted system with a blocked drain is a repair, every time. Anything in between, the technician will walk you through the numbers on site.

If it does come to replacing, we quote it the same way we quote every install: measured in person, in writing, with the old system removed and disposed of, and the new one covered by the manufacturer's warranty plus our own 5-year workmanship warranty.

  • Repair quoted on site before any work starts
  • Replacement quoted in writing, never pushed
  • Old units removed and disposed of properly
  • Same service desk for the life of the new system

What we stand for

We’re not comfortable
until you are

Honest advice

Free, whether you buy from us or not. If the system you asked for is the wrong one for the house, we will tell you and show you why.

Our own people

Installers and service technicians trained in-house and employed by TOZER. The crew that quotes, installs and services your system all sit in the same building.

Stocked, not waiting

Our own warehouse at Beresfield holds the units and ducting, so installs are booked against stock on the shelf, not a supplier's delivery run.

Local, answered by people

A local number for every region, answered in our Beresfield office by Lee and the service desk. You get a person who knows the job, not a queue.

Repair questions

Before you
call us out

Straight answers on how a repair call works. More on the FAQ page.

Call the service desk
How quickly can you come out?

It depends on the time of year and where you are. Outside the peak of summer and winter it is usually within a few days. In a heatwave the phones run hot, so call early and tell Lee if the house has someone elderly, unwell or a newborn in it, and we will do what we can to prioritise it.

Do you repair brands you did not sell me?

Yes. Our technicians work on all the major brands of ducted, split and multi-split systems. The exception is very old or obscure units where parts are no longer made, and we will tell you that on the phone rather than charging a call-out to say it in person.

Is there a call-out fee?

Yes. Every breakdown request carries a call-out fee that includes attendance and the first 30 minutes of labour, with an hourly rate after that. Both are listed under service pricing, so there are no surprises. Any repair beyond that is quoted and agreed with you before the work is done.

My system is still under warranty. What do I do?

If it is a Daikin, Fujitsu or Panasonic, call us: we are the warranty agent and we handle the claim with the manufacturer directly. For other brands, we can still repair it, but check your warranty paperwork first, as some manufacturers require their own agent for warranty work.

Can I do anything before you arrive?

Clean the filters, clear anything leaning on or growing around the outdoor unit, note any error code, and if the unit is leaking water or tripping power, switch it off at the isolator. Do not open panels or touch wiring.

Do you do after-hours or weekend repairs?

Our service desk runs Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm, and that is when repairs are booked and done. If your system fails on a Friday night, call first thing Monday or book through the form and we will call you back as soon as the office opens.
