Commercial

Designed for
how the space trades

A café full of ovens and people, an office with forty screens, a supermarket with open fridges and a hotel with a hundred rooms all put very different loads on an air conditioning system. Commercial work is about designing for the real load, then keeping the system running in trading hours.

TOZER does commercial air conditioning across Newcastle and the Hunter alongside the residential work. Greg and Drew both came up through the trade on commercial and industrial systems, and Greg or Shaun do the plan reviews and site inspections for commercial jobs.

That matters because the design decisions are where commercial jobs are won or lost: outdoor units placed where they can be serviced without a crane, zoning that matches how the tenancy is used, and equipment chosen for parts availability and service life rather than the lowest tender price. We put it all in a written proposal you can take to your landlord, your builder or your board.

  • Supermarkets, offices, hotels, restaurants, cafés and public buildings
  • New fit-outs, replacements of tired systems, and additions to existing plant
  • Ducted, cassette, bulkhead and multi-head systems, plus commercial refrigeration
  • Scheduled maintenance programs set around your trading hours

Who we work with

Premises we
know well

Every building has its own problem to solve. These are the ones we solve most often.

Shops and supermarkets

Big open floors, doors that never close and refrigeration adding heat all day. Systems sized for the real load, with refrigeration handled by the same team.

Offices

Zoned for meeting rooms, open-plan floors and the server cupboard that never switches off. Quiet indoor units and controls the office manager can actually use.

Hotels and accommodation

Room-by-room control, systems guests cannot hear, and a maintenance schedule that works around occupancy so a failed unit never costs you a booking.

Restaurants and cafés

Kitchen heat, packed dining rooms and short windows for any work. Designed for the load, installed between services, and maintained before the summer rush.

Public and community buildings

Halls, clubs, clinics and council facilities with compliance to meet and a committee to report to. Written proposals, tidy paperwork and long-life equipment.

Commercial refrigeration

Cool rooms and commercial refrigeration for food businesses, serviced by the same refrigeration mechanics who look after your air conditioning.

Maintenance programs

Serviced before it fails,
not after

A commercial system that fails in trading hours costs more in lost business than any service visit. A scheduled program is how you stop that happening.

We set the interval to suit the equipment and how hard it works, from quarterly visits for a busy restaurant to twice a year for a small office. Each visit runs the same full service checklist we use everywhere: coils, filters, drains, refrigerant, motors, controls and safeties, with the system run on heating and cooling.

You get a written record after every visit, which is what your landlord, insurer or franchise auditor asks for. Faults found on the day are reported with a price before anything is done, so you decide what happens next.

  • Visits scheduled around your trading hours
  • Written service record after every visit
  • Faults quoted before they are fixed
  • One service desk, one number, for the life of the plant

Our approach

Six steps,
every single job

One tenancy or a whole building, the job runs the same way, from the drawings to the handover.

Designed off the plans

Fit-outs and new builds are sized from your drawings and equipment list. On an existing building, Greg or Shaun inspect the roof, power, plant positions and how the space is used.

A written proposal

The system, the equipment, the price, what is included and the timing, in writing and ready for your landlord, builder or board. If it is not in the proposal, you will not be charged for it later.

Booked around your program

Install dates are planned from the start around your builder’s program or your trading hours. New units and ducting come from our own Beresfield warehouse, not a supplier’s delivery run.

Installed by our own crews

Trained in-house, in TOZER uniform, working around the other trades or around your customers. Neat penetrations, sealed and capped, and the site left clean before the van leaves.

Commissioned and checked

Every system is run on heating and cooling, pressures and temperatures checked, and signed off against our completion checklist before we hand over the controls.

Backed after handover

TOZER’s workmanship warranty on top of the manufacturer’s commercial warranty, honoured by our own service department. Call the same office that installed it.

What we stand for

We’re not comfortable
until you are

Honest advice

Free, whether you buy from us or not. If the system you asked for is the wrong one for the building, we will tell you and show you why.

Our own people

Installers and service technicians trained in-house and employed by TOZER. The crew that quotes, installs and services your system all sit in the same building.

Stocked, not waiting

Our own warehouse at Beresfield holds the units and ducting, so installs are booked against stock on the shelf, not a supplier's delivery run.

Local, answered by people

A local number for every region, answered in our Beresfield office by Lee and the service desk. You get a person who knows the job, not a queue.

Preferred warranty agents for

Daikin Fujitsu Panasonic

Not just the brands we sell: the brands that trust us to honour their warranties. We also install Mitsubishi Electric. Compare the brands.

Commercial questions

What owners and
managers ask

The questions that come up on almost every commercial site visit.

Request a site visit
Can you work outside trading hours?

Yes, that is normal for commercial work. Installs and maintenance in shops, restaurants and hotels are usually scheduled early, late or on days the premises are quiet, and we plan the job around it from the start rather than surprising you with it.

Do you work with builders and shopfitters on new fit-outs?

Yes. On a fit-out we work from the drawings with your builder or shopfitter, design the system to suit the tenancy, and coordinate the install around the other trades. Greg or Shaun are the point of contact throughout, so the person who quoted the job is the one you deal with.

Can you take over maintenance on a system someone else installed?

Yes. We start with a full inspection so we know what we have inherited, give you a written report on its condition, and then put it on a schedule. Most commercial plant in the Hunter is a brand we know well and can service properly.

Will the system cope with our kitchen or our fridges?

Only if it is designed for them. Cooking equipment and open refrigeration add a lot of heat to a space, and a system sized like an office will never keep up. We work out the real load from the plans and the equipment list, then check it on site, before we size anything.

How do you handle warranties on commercial equipment?

Commercial equipment carries the manufacturer's commercial warranty, and on top of that you get TOZER's own workmanship warranty on the installation. As warranty agents for Daikin, Fujitsu and Panasonic, we handle claims on those brands directly.

Do you do body corporate and strata work?

Yes. Common-area systems, individual lots and the paperwork the strata manager needs. Bring the by-laws and any existing service records to the site visit and we will tell you what is workable.
